Reading the devotional today the verse was from Daniel. “We do not make requests of you because we are righteous, but because of your great mercy.” (Daniel 9:18b)
Quite the words to ponder, especially in today’s society. After reading the devotional it lead me to read the entire chapter itself. This was at a time when the people in this land had been ignoring God’s book. They were doing things as they saw fit. Then they found the scriptures again and after reading them they came before God asking for his great mercy.
As I read I had the feeling that we are in these times again. People have given up on believing what they Bible says, but in doing this they have also lost the message of God’s loving mercy that is given to us all if we ask. We need to come before his throne again, like the people of old, and request God’s mercy. Only then will we see the revival in our land. Only then will we find the true peace that passes all understanding.
