Reading the devotional the other day I was impressed with the scripture which was choose. I had written some info on this devotion the other day but this also came to mind.
Daniel 9:18b “We do not make requests of you because we are righteous, but because of your great mercy.”
I then proceeded to read the entire chapter. It the story of the people in the First year of the reigning of King Darius. It is a story talking of how they had been lead away from the Lord, but upon reading the scriptures they knew they had done wrong. They also knew that they must repent. So they returned to God pleading for his great mercy.
I do believe we have come o that state ourselves in today’s world. We find so many people trying to fight against God and making up their own rules. We find so many people trying to dictate how we are to live and ditching the truth which is found in the Bible.
We are at the state that we need to repent. Turn back to God and beg for his Mercy. And you know what. God will waiting for us to do this. He is waiting to pour out his mercy on us, why, because his loves us so.
My devotional ended saying how “God’s smile is not for the healthy hiker who boasts that he made the journey alone. It is, instead for the crippled leper who begs God for a back on which to ride.”
And like a Father, God is always willing to take us onto his back.
